Just got word from Corny of FAMED Records in Berlin that our 10″s are ready. He attached some poorly-lighted pictures but it’s enough for us to see. Anyway, the colour is a bit off from what we wanted (red-orange or reddish-orange) but it’s ok.

As mentioned on my personal FB page; the artwork is now ready. The mock-up above is an update which includes the insert as well, which was all done and finalised yesterday.
The insert, a two-page thing (which would be nice if its printed on cards), features all the lyrics with translations and a bit of explanation on two of the songs. Translating the Malay lyrics to English is not much of a problem, well, some of them were done very quickly and pretty much rudimentary. The hard nut there is to make it easily understandable to those who don’t know Malay but also trying to have them rhyme (at least in some places!).
The real problem is how to translate the one and only English song (The Fine Line of Numb) to Malay and make it so that it can stand on its own, and also to have it rhyme?! There were a few words which stumped me, so I turned to Facebook and, as one friend mentioned it, “crowd-sourced” the translation. That was pretty effective; from all the feedback, I managed to string a translation together.
Here’s a peek:
The Fine Line of Numb is translated as “Garisan Halus Kelalian Nurani” – “lali” for “numb” and “nurani” for “conscience”; thus making it more concise; “The Fine Line of Being Conscientiously Numb”.
Here’s how it reads like in Malay:

Bertali-arus pelbagai alasan,
Mengajak berpaling, beredar pergi,
Gadaikan prinsip, harga diri; biar dilambung musim berganti,

The band will be recording tonight at the Bsync Studio, contributing a song for Bar Council’s MyConstitution campaign compilation CD. The song will be THE SHITWORKERS old tune from 1994, with a new verse added to touch upon our despairing view on the effectiveness of what is called as the “democratic election” process – where people go to vote, again and again, resulting with a few new faces supposedly representing them but ultimately with no substantial change in the quagmire we are all trapped in.

Our good friend Subs stumbled upon a review of the CD-R (btw; still available as FREE download here). Apart from mistaking where DUNG is from (we are apparently from the Philippines!) and some of the song titles, the review is rather good!

CARBURETOR DUNG – STILL PISSED AFTER ALL THESE YEARS
“Philippine hardcore legends Carburetor Dung have, as their name implies, specialized in sloppy punk with a sense of jaded humor for the past decade. “Still Pissed” covers a sort of best of going back to 1993′s “Songs for Friends,” and includes samples from other records and anthology appearances, as well as two tracks from their most recent, 2008′s “Ingin Ku Rejam Rakasa Kejam.”
The two most recent tracks lead off the set, and show the band hasn’t strayed too far from their roots. While “Semua Sama Semua Bosan (Everything’s The Same, Everything’s Boring)” has some prog touches,
“Hanturaya Putrajaya (Putrajaya’s Diabolical Ghost)” is the best hardcore song I’ve heard in years: loud, fast, snotty, off-key sax in the back of the mix; pure Gang Green meets Fear. Whoa.
The band, anchored since the beginning by bassist Fendi and Joe Kidd on guitar, have a frenzied old school sound that is fresh and fist-pumping. While not meant to be anthems (this band is nothing if not geniuses of the anti-statement), songs like “Mari Nyanyi Menjilat (Lets Sing The Licking Arse Song)” and “Johnny (Punk Not Death!)” fit anyone’s definition of anthems.
From “The Allure of Manure” mini-record of 1999, steamy goodness emanates from “The Line” and “Do Nothing” while from their debut, while any song restores your faith in humanity, “Carburetor Dance,” “Song for a Friend,” and the sardonic “Labour of Hate,” (an off-key, sloppy drunken acoustic masterpiece) do stand out.
With the appropriately named collection, Carburetor Dung reveal a mostly unknown catalog of gems from one of the greatest hardcore bands you’ve never heard of. “Still Pissed After All These Years” can be had for free through the band; get it. It’s damaged and glorious stuff.”

At last we are playing the much revered Singapore DIY Punk venue, BLACKHOLE 212, which is actually said to be closing down somewhere later this month. Another plus point is us playing with old friends OPPOSITION PARTY, Singapore’s oldest punk band still going! Joe and Bullet actually jammed with OP on-stage at Metallica Lounge, Pertama in KL back in 1990 – Joe sung two songs while Bullet played “weirdo” guitar with the then trio of Francis, Lee Piau and Mike!
